Students Taking Action Now: Darfur

THE GENERAL MEMBERSHIP of STAND is constituted by the many students who are on the e-mail list and will take part in larger STAND events, like the Thanksgiving fast, or the candlelight vigil, but who do not necessarily take part in the actual planning of the events. General meetings are held to keep the larger group up-to-speed on the planning efforts of the subgroups and umbrella committee.

*Tabling occurs weekly, with each of the three subgroups contributing an aspect of the materials at the table. For example, Taking Political Action puts out letters to congresspersons and senators for students to sign, Raising Relief has a donation jar, and the Increasing Consciousness group provides information sheets about Sudan.

*Various members of the organization take on initiatives such as contacting speakers, coordinating with other campus groups and fundraising for the organization.
